A2 Media Student Digipak Analysis

Cover: the creators of the digipak really captured the essence of the whole digipak by using the post-production effetcs with the theme of wolves and smoke. They've kept the theme consistent all throughout the digipak. The front cover of the digipak combines two pictures and minimalistic font while the back of it contains a picture of a wolf with the post-production added effects and additional features. They have transformed normal pictures into something atistic by using effects and filters.

The inside: to stay continious with the them, the digipak designers have used similar images to those on the cover of the product. They interestingly used two images, one of them providing texture to the imagine beneath it; that is, we can see handwriting over the picture of the wolves. This suggests that the album is indie (indie rock) or alternative because of its use of naturalistic images as opposed to pictures of the band in a photoshoot. The font of the handwriting seems to suggest it's a letter; perhaps it shows that the album is quite honest and open in terms of its nature.

On this side of the digipak the creators have printed lyrics and special thanks pages. Both of them feature on an imagine of the woods, a clearly running theme throughout the digipak.  The lyrics of the song 'Future' and the special thank you note are written in a similar handwriting which links to the picture of the letter combined with wolves. It's important to keep the continuity of the digipak's theme as any drastic change in colour or location can be seen as out of place and disconnected.

The back: on the back of the digipak, the songs featured in the album are listed. This is necessary as often digipaks are packed so only the front and back covers can be seen. The band's name, The Black & The White, are well portrayed through the use of a white wolf and black(ish) smoke, and the overall contrast between black and white of the picture. The same font, which is used to list the songs, is used on the cover of the digipak also, which shows that the product is overall well-connected together.

Overall, the digipak is well put together, with the images signifying the genre as well as the mood and general meaning behind the band/music which is one of the most important things concerning the digipak.
