A2 Media Student Music Video Promotion Analysis
Setting:
Mise en scene, especially the setting in the video is used exceptionally well as it links to the genre of the song as well as the brand identity of the artist.
The use of a stage/behind the scene setting links well to the lyrics, which links to Goodwin's narrative theory in which visuals compliment the lyrics.
Make up and Costume:
The eccentric approach to make up and costume links well to the image of the artist as Lady Gaga is famous for her extreme appearance and creativity in terms of music videos.

Props:
the girls have used a variety of props; however, the most interesting one I found was the use of a ladder which would usually look quite random and innefective. In the video, it seems like it really belongs there which makes the prop even more relevant. The use of a wire was also interesting as it gave the video an extra attribute of strangeness (which is ultimately what the group strived for!)
Camera Angles:
The use of camera angles is very appropriate and relevant to the genre of the music video; the shots included close ups, long shots and mid shots which all, when combined well in post production, make an excellent music video. Most shots were filmed using a tripod which fits the conventions of a pop music video in a way that it allows the audience to concentrate on the choreography and such.

What I have learned:
The group has used post-production effects wonderfully and it really gave me a lot of ideas of how even my group, which is creating an indie music video, could use editing to enhance the visuals of our video.
It also showed me how props aren't something I should concentrate on too much if I feel like the video doesn't require many of them. Even though indie music videos concentrate on the narrative and the lyrics of the song and since props are so vital when telling a story, if used too many or incorrectly, they can reduce the significance of them.
