Artist Promotion

With the ever-lasting increase of social media, artist promotion is more freely available for every up-and-coming artist of any age, nationality or overall popularity. Being 'internet famous' nowadays means more than being famous on television because newspapers are acknowledging the increasing internet audience. Often people, especially young and with easy access to the internet at all times, are more insterested in finding new acts on websites such as YouTube and Soundcloud than waiting for one to be introduced to them through TV music channels, such as MTV or 4Music.

Twitter is an incredibly convenient way of promotion if the artist is capable of attracting an audience. With millions of people being a finger-tip touch away, it's the matter of how well the artist, or their management, is capable of getting their target audience to pay attention to the new person in the industry. For instance, the artist can quickly attract audiences by involving themselves in conflicts with other artists; however, that is more of a worst case scenario.

Facebook and YouTube are platforms on which an artist can post their content freely and at any rate. Building communities by creating a Facebook fan page or creating a YouTube channel allow artist to have their stage on which they can perform; only on the internet.

Other websites such as Soundcloud, Tumblr, Beatport etc, also provide sufficient platforms for new artists to express themselves on as well as directly reach their target audience by posting, tagging and sharing their music.

It's important not to forget the significance of the good old-fashioned poster in school, inviting people to attend a local concert or an advertisement on a local newspaper, inroducing the artist and informing people of where they can find their music.
