This simple timeline includes some of everyone's all-time-favourites as well as generally groundbreaking or iconic music videos which shaped the concept of music videos today. Starting as early as 1930s with the first music video which is thought to be Bessie Smith's St Louis Blues which at the time was played in theatres and ended with Gangam Style - perhaps the most successful music video of our time (view count is 2 bilion and counting!).
